and what would it be like to drive ?
sorry for the dumb questions but i know nothing about cabs but this caught my eye and i had this idea of changing my cayenne for it for 6 months or so and enjoying a bit of open top action

Nice for a road trip to turkey
No sports seats (though I find the standard seats more comfortable), ruffled leather not to everyone's tastes but personally it would be the grey leather that'd put me off. It's bearable when split with black but full grey isn't very nice IMO all personal preference though eh?

Lovely car , as said above though...it's very grey
Sorry to take thread off topic a little......
Have to ask , this drive to Turkey you are talking about ? When are you planning on going and how long will the trip be for ? Oh and where's the finish point ?
I've thought about doing the same, I go to Antalya a couple of times a year to go see friends and play some golf (they live in Belek). Car is only allowed to stay in the country a maximum of 3 months , but the thing that has put me off a little in the past...is the idea of having togrease a few fingers as i come through customs with the car.
I was planning to drive to Italy and then jump on the Ferry...not drive the whole way though.

TBH, the Istanbul trip will happen but not just yet I think having spoken to a few heads. The current proposal looks something like this (http://goo.gl/maps/BdGL3) and it will be amazing but it needs more time and probably a different group of people as some of the great people on the alpine tour won't be up for it. 2013 we will probably do a giant tour of spain/pyrenees instead as originally planned.

funny, one of the reasons i liked it was because it didnt have a black interior like 99% of other 911's
That's all that matters then isn't it? If I was buying a 997 carrera I would only look at sand beige interiors for the same reason & most folk would tell you that was worse than grey or black. At risk of getting hanged
have you driven a 996 Cabrio? They are a bit hmm floppy IMO. 997 was a big improvement, and 991 even more so to the point I'd say they are almost, but not quite, comparable to the coupe. You really need to drive one over some bumpy roads and see if it's for you or not. Just my 5p!!!!

As for 996t cabs in general, I can't say how they compare to coupes or later models but I've got one and can't imagine I'll ever need a faster car.
And ruffled leather adds at least 15bhp.
