I'm looking to buy a new drivers harness for my 7 for doing sprints and hillclimbs this year. The car (a 2005 Roadsport Academy) currently has the standard Caterham badged harness (Luke?) which I find really awkward to adjust. I've got a set of Scroth Profi harnesses in my Exige which I much prefer.

Does anyone use the Caterham specific Schroth harnesses, and if so do you use a 5 or 6 point attachment with it? Does the crutch strap attach to the same side mounting points as the lap straps? Or are there other options I should consider?

Thanks smile

The crutch strap uses two mounting points on the rear bulkhead - if you look behind the seat you should see two lugs protruding. These will take a bolt that goes through the floor (after you have drilled a 13mm hole IIRC).

I have the standard 3" harnesses.

I used Schroth harnesses in my race Caterham last year and found them to be a massive improvement over the standard Caterham/Luke ones. I will be sharing my Dad's 7 in sprints/hillclimbs this year and have just bought a set of Schroth belts to replace his Caterham ones as I felt much safer in the belts in my car than his last year. I've bought this harness: http://www.msar.co.uk/detail.asp?p=226&o=Cater...

Which championship are you planning on doing? I can't recommend the Lotus 7 Club speed championship enough. We've done it since 2007 and have had a fantastic time.

Thanks Steve, Matt smile

I hadn't realised there was a Caterham specific 6 point Schroth harness, might need to do a bit more investigation into that as it looks ideal. It's hard to see from the picture, but do the lap straps tighten by pulling the adjusters up the way?

I'll be competing in the Scottish hillclimb and sprint championships this year, unfortunately the Lotus 7 club events would be a bit far to travel!
