Install = Win Xp Home with SP2 on girlfriends Toshiba laptop (couple of weeks old)

Problem = When clicking on My documents or My music (and possibly other folders also) Explorer crashes. If you click again the crash causes the start bar to fail aswell.

I've tried MS knowledge base and the only similar problem said the fix was SP2, this computer has that.

Anyone got any clues?

Cheers!
Rob.

Format and re-install - it will probably be quicker than finding a fix.

Might be worth a quick spyware and virus scan first.

Explorer is what runs when you want to look in a folder though?

Hmm :/

Turns out it was related to SP2, even though its been installed for a few weeks. Anyhow, to fix it I just did a system restore from before that point and now all is well.

Cheers,
