26p a litre off at Morrissons
Discussion
Obviously this is of no use to the well built, goateed company directors who only run their MX5s on V-Power, but for the rest of us mortals...
This might be handy for some people. We bought a new fridge freezer from Currys yesterday. The OH had spotted something on moneysavingexpert or similar - she went to Morrissons and got the money for the freezer (£280) in Morrissons gift vouchers. We then paid for the freezer with said voucher and in return got a money off petrol voucher - 26ppl.
I then filled up the Volvo of Vastness and a couple of jerry cans (pump clicked off at 100 litres) and got £26 off. Not bad. Obviously this will only be realistically worth it if there's a Morrissons in easy reach (we drive past it every day).
Might be a useful tip for everyone.
ETA: the offer knocks off 1 pence per litre per £10 of gift vouchers bought. So if you have something like a somehting expensive to buy then looks like a good idea to me.I wonder whet woukld happen if you bought £1300 of vouchers - would your petrol be free?

I'm quite lucky as round here the shell garages are the same price as the supermarkets on Standard Unleaded. I do however always put V-Power in my car, even though it's only an auto Honda and even though I'm only an apprentice. I'm under the impression it'll stop it from stinging if I bought a car that needed to be run on higher octane juice!

Will your brain explode if you end up buying a more economical car which only needs standard unleaded?RicksAlfas said:

Yes.But seriously, I drive a 1.5 Auto Honda Civic, it's a VTEC-E that closes 4 of the valves when they're not required so it's pretty economical as is and doesn't need Super, I just like putting it in and miraculously I've always gone further on £20 of Super (A 5 day working week.) than on £20 of Standard (3 days and the light comes on.)

That means you would be getting ~67% better economy from running on super unleaded, which is obviously impossible. I suspect if you actually measured the fuel consumption properly (i.e. measuring over a full tanks worth) then the difference would be at least an order of magnitude lower. But seriously, I drive a 1.5 Auto Honda Civic, it's a VTEC-E that closes 4 of the valves when they're not required so it's pretty economical as is and doesn't need Super, I just like putting it in and miraculously I've always gone further on £20 of Super (A 5 day working week.) than on £20 of Standard (3 days and the light comes on.)

Who else accepts Morrisons gift vouchers apart from Currys?
http://www.morrisonsfuelsaver.co.uk/gift-card-partnersQuite a lot of places, it would appear....
Alternatively, if you have a small petrol tank you can use one of the referal sites like Quidco or Topcashback
They pay between 1 and 5% of the price back, and then you can collect in store an hour or so later.
Your 26p/litre would be worth about £7.80 to me but kudos on your 100 litre effort

Of course, but there are a ridiculous amount of variables at play here it's just, from personal experience, my car has gone longer with Super in the tank...Don't ask me to fill it up, I'm poor!

You don't buy Morrisons gift cards, you buy whatever brand you want to. Most other supermarkets sell them too. Great if you want something straight away. Of course, if you'd bought £100 of Jessops vouchers last week in order to get the fuel discount...
Thanks, that was the bit that confused me. I know most of the supermarkets sell gift cards for other stores, but from the way the OP worded it I assumed it was some kind of universal card accepted at multiple stores.Seems like a pretty good deal tbh, provided you have a Morrisons reasonably local.
