Ideas required re: second car
Discussion
Two years ago I owned a Merc SL500, which was great - I absolutely loved it, apart from it not being sporty or quite fast enough. The auto box, whilst good was a bit sluggish too...
I skipped a few steps in motoring and then bought a Porsche 996 turbo. Which was mental. If you ever get the chance to try one - do. I have never driven or been in a more capable car.
Then I did a track day at Goodwood. I had 5 laps in each of a Mustang, Corvette and a Viper. The 911 would have shown all of these cars what real speed is, but would have been ruinously expensive to track. I sold it a few weeks ago :-(
I now have a comfy waft-mobile in the shape of a Lexus GS450, and have £5-8k to spend on a toy. It'd be used for a few track days a year, weekend hooning, that sort of thing.
So far, I've thought about:
MX5 - cheap, reliable
Elise - bit faster, more 'special', possible to even get one at this price??
Any other ideas? The car would be garaged when not in use, and ideally I'd like a drop-head...
Thanks!
