Folks, just returned from hols to find the Cerb battery dead and doors and boot not unlocking, and my jump starter pack is in the boot.

Can someone please urgently email me the secret access to the boot.

Thanks.

Thanks for the emails chaps. I still can't get into the boot however. I also managed to get through to my dealer who tried to take me through the process on the phone but with no joy. He thinks that my boot lock cable may have snapped!

I am in real shit now as the window is partly open and I can't get in to close it.

When I first went to the car the door did open and I jumped in to start it. Then I discovered the battery was dead so unlocked the bonnet, got out, closed the door but the window didn't go up.

After fiddling for ages with the "secret" way in (with no joy), I gave up and decided to connect my other car's battery via jump leads - thinking that a bit of power would allow the doors to open. That didn't work either! I was even able to stick my hand in the partly open window and use a screw driver to press the start button and the car fired up beautifully - BUT THE BLOODY DOORS AND BOOT WILL STILL NOT UNLOCK.

I tried disarming and rearming the alarm but no luck.

What's going on? I can start the car, and thus there's clearly power to the system, but the doors still won't open.

Could a fuse have blown. Could the electrical system be "confused".

I really don't know what to do. I can start the car but cannot get in it. The window is partly open and bonnet unclipped - so not exactly secure!

Any ideas.

There is another lever at the side of your seat, underneath the bottom of the door recess. This will open the door too. If you can get your head in...you might be able to reach.

although you might have to have urang utan arms

The window is only open about 3 inches, so I can get to that lever unfortunately.

I'm really stuck.

Doesn't matter if the electric cable, etc. for the boot's snapped or not - that's not necessary for the secret way in. Unless it's rusted solid or something, stick with it and keep trying... just takes a bit of practice.

As for fuses...if it is the fuse, then its more than one. Cant see that being the problem.

Fuse 9 = drivers lock/passanger window.
Fuse10 = drivers window/door lock/ECU
Fuse11 = passenger lock/boot lock

Agree with JS. Fiddle about with the method, swear a little and fingers crossed.

When and if you get in the boot...there is a door reset box on top of the tank. Try unplugging it (pull the leads of 4 a few seconds), and reconnect.

Hope you get in.

I'm off to get rat arsed now down Sheffield. Going to look at the local sights, the short skirts etc. ooops, I wont, I forgot, i'm with my belovered.

At last. Problem solved, with the expert help of satman (Paddy). Needed the use of a drill! and resetting the door reset box thing as described by kojak69 above.

What a night! And throughout this whole episode the missus was pacing around the car asking "well, are we going out or not, well are we, well are we...."

satman - you are a total star. Thanks for fielding my many calls and getting me going again. I definitely owe you beers big time.

Cheers,
gixxer

That happened to me today(well, I didnt know at 1st, racked my brains for ages)returning from the Brighton Speed Trials, and my house keys where locked in the boot, along with all my tools doh!

Its amazing what you can do with a TVR keyring and a garden cane

Glad you are in Geoff. That'll teach you not to go on
holiday. I'd advise you get a trickle charger from Leven. Mines always hooked up...even for a few days.

That's definitely the plan kojak69 - once I move out of London and get a garage that is!

cheers,
gixxer.

You can have it so it runs off your cig lighter...so you dont need mains power.

How does that work then?....isnt this way using the cars battery power to top it back up again, or am I missing something?

I think you can plug the charger into the cigerette lighter to charge the car, but thought you'd need either mains power, or as seen at Le Mans, a small solar panel that sits on the dash, and plugs into the ciggie lighter....but I do stand to be corrected...

Try a search for 'trickle', and you'll get a lot of info.

Got my facts wrong...thinking of the solar powered one.

The Holly Grail! A Cerbera perpetual energy machine!!

If you trickle charge then the power source has to be external to the car (I think)?

Mines does too.

Theres this thread regarding the solar powered charger, which you dont need mains.
