Heads up to owners of Elite turbo trainers

The supplied skewer is frankly rubbish so I just bought an Ultegra rear skewer from Planet X for a tenner and it works perfectly with the clamps on the turbo. The skewers are used and on clearance

Providing your rear tyre is fairly tough (I'm using a cheap Vittoria Zaffiro Pro) you can have one wheel for both turbo and road use and not even have to change skewers

Oh what do you think is bad about the elite ones? I use one and seems OK to me but if I can make an improvement then will.

There is zero movement in the cam on the standard ones. I'd never consider using them on the road

The bare minimum cam movement should be about 2mm to have a safe clamping action

Oh I wouldn't use it on the road - far too ugly! The only thing I care about is how snugly if fits into the turbo frame which it doesn't do very well though seems secure - the Tacx skewer I tried in a Tacx trainer was far better.

How hard is it to take a skewer out ( orginal with the bike ) and replace it with the skewer that came with the Turbo?

Takes me about 10 seconds.
