I'm 40 next month and thinking of hiring a nice car for the day, probably a Ferrari or Nissan GTR perhaps.

Can anybody recommend a company to use or is this a waste of money/bad idea.

Anybody done the same thing and loved it or thought it was a waste of money?

Is it a waste of money? You will have to be the judge of that.

I hired an Audi R8 V10 for the weekend and it was fantastic. One important thing was that I had somewhere to go.

As an example, the deposit needed was £3400 which, albeit returned with no issues, needed to be available before taking the car keys. Then, on top of the cost of the hire there is the cost per mile after the initial agreed amount (100 miles for example) have been used.

I didn't go with a specific company but used Jasen at Aces Management. I have known of him for a while and he acts as a 'concierge' and hunts out the best deals using his contacts.

He negotiated a very decent mileage rate and overall hire rate that i couldn't get by speaking to the companies direct. Not sure how he does it but it all went very smoothly. Car arrived on a trailer, did the walk around check, got shown all the features etc of the car. That was it. Enjoyed the car and it was collected with no problems on the Monday.

I was worried about horror stories I had heard where the car was returned and deposits lost due to 'dents, scratches etc' appearing once back in the compound but found this not an issue.

Give Jasen a ring 07735 660160. He is a great guy and will give you as much help as needed without a hard sell. If you want, tell him I recommended him. I do not know him outside my hire I had and have no connection with the company but like to recommend those that treat me well.

Make sure you have somewhere or something to do while you have a hire car as without, you'll rack up expensive miles doing nothing. Use it and enjoy it. And don't forget you'll still have the fuel to pay out....LOL

Let's us know what you choose if you do and where you went.... thumbup

Go here:
www.supercarexperiences.com
Cars I've hired from him - AM V8 Vantage (x2), FF RR, RR Sport Supercharged, 911 C4S.
He has a great fleet, but access to many other cars (458/GTR/Zonda!). His Gallardo Spider is stunning.

Tell Nik that Arun said hi.

Is that the going rate out there? If so I think I could brave the flight knowing I had two weeks of V8 sound.
