Folks, sorry for the multiple posts, but I'm in desperate need of assistance.

See here for details:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=123757&f=6&h=0

In summary:

* the battery is dead
* the drivers side window is partly open
* the boot and doors will not release
* I have tries the "secret" way in, but that failed
* The bonnet is unclipped and I can jump start the car by connecting up another battery via jump leads and pushing the start button with a long screwdriver - BUT STILL THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN.

I'm really really stuck. Can anyone help.

Try pressing the inner door release button with your long screwdriver or try a long piece of gardening cane to reach the passenger side???

1. Please edit the post so it doesn't give any details of the secret way in
2. It will work that way, because it's purely a mechanical thing, it just takes a bit of patience to get it right the first time and find the exact right spot.

If the secret way in don't work it may be that the alarm has confused itself, diconnect the battery, charge it, refit it and try re setting the alarm. With an hour or so to purge itself it may just return to normal

Can't see how that'd affect it... surely the alarm just stops the solenoid from working to do it electrically - it doesn't mechanically stop it from being operated (if you get what I mean).

At last. Problem solved, with the expert help of satman (Paddy). Needed the use of a drill! and resetting the door reset box thing as described by kojak69 above.

What a night! And throughout this whole episode the missus was pacing around the car asking "well, are we going out or not, well are we, well are we...."

satman - you are a total star. Thanks for fielding my many calls and getting me going again. I definitely owe you beers big time.

Cheers,
gixxer
