Hilarious Cycle Lane - Legal RLJ

I know we've all seen some pretty stupid cycle lanes, but this one that I encounter on my commute is quite frankly AWESOME (not irony, genuine awesomeness):

The *only* purpose I can think of for it, is to allow a cyclist to go around the red light. So I do.

Perhaps I need to point out that that isn't a photo taken by my personal remote action cam which is supposed to show me avoiding the red light by using the cycle lane, but rather a picture from streetview that shows said ridiculous cycle lane.

Is this making sense yet?

Looks like it's to allow cyclists to turn right. A Jughandle turn.

Correct, but you can also legally jump the red light by riding on the pavement. There are a few of these in London, and can you imagine what fun you'd have if you actually used them?

You'd have car drivers foaming at the mouth that you ran a red light, and pedestrians getting all indignant that you'd ridden onto the pavement.
