I'll probably keep my trusty Saab diesel for the daily runabout - I work in construction so a Porsche isn't really appropriate for site use. Was thinking of getting another Defender but this isn't the time to buy one as prices seem to have hit a high!http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

Speedster looks nice but not sure I want a replica.

Buy my gt3 :-)
I,ll do you a deal to stop me having to put it up for sale as I have seen the car I want for sale and have itchy feet.
When did you get rid of your Spyder? You kept that incredibly quiet I,ll do you a deal to stop me having to put it up for sale as I have seen the car I want for sale and have itchy feet.

I would consider another 996 GT3, I really enjoyed my last one. The only thing putting me off is the idea of an RS which has to be my number one option - in a way the RS has spoiled the standard car for me.
how about recreations?

Maybe this if you acted quickly.

MK1 Clubsport as I'm sure you know.
We've seen a house come up in a little village we love, up here in Northumberland but the mortgage company are trying to fleece us if we put our current house on consent to let and selling ours in time to buy the other isn't ideal at the minute. Neither of us can go for it on our own as we have another house too.
£35k is what I paid and would enable the move without going consent to let, but god knows when I'll be back in a GT3.
It's in no way going up for sale mind but after the chat with our financial advisor yesterday, we're a bit frustrated this morning, so if a magic buyer appeared in the next two weeks, I probably couldn't ignore them.

No probs, I used to prefer to the MK2 so can see the attraction. Would be a tear-jerker letting mine go but we're in housey talks today hence weighing up all our options.
Good luck with the search. You basically need a 996GT3RS then don't you. Having come so close to buying one you'll never be happy with a standard MK2 GT3. You just won't.
At the same time you're not going to get a no stories RS for your £45k. So it's decision time -
1) Up the budget to get what you really want. This is what I'd be doing even if it meant waiting.
2) Buy the plain MK2 which is a brilliant car but always wish you'd waited/saved a bit more and bought the RS.
Prices won't get any better. Now xmas is out the way people have their time and money back, or at least their time and money reserves start topping back up ready for spring. I can't see a straight RS coming back on for £47k this year.
All just my view though.

I stopped trying to figure out the used car market a while ago. It never seems evolve as you imagine.
For me the deal is important as I tend to keep cars for 6 months before wanting a change. Not sure if that'd be the case with an RS because it probably is my ultimate almost affordable option.

To get a 996RS with good provenance and miles you are probably 15k light unfortunately. With that budget you are safer going for an excellent provenance 996MK1 or MK2 or a 996GT2, again provenance is absolutely key. I would always buy a good car for the right money than a cheap one with none. They are not cheap cars to run and you could easily spend more on getting a cheap car put right that you saved on it in the first place.

Don't think there was a heck of a lot wrong with the Mr911 car and I could have had that at £46K - just wasn't quick enough making the decision. Price often isn't the indicator of a good or bad car.

I'm quite happy to spend less of course, but I'm lacking inspiration!

For the vast amount of enthusiasts, they're all the 911 you'll ever need. Simple to work one, reliable, hard wearing & importantly for most generate good will & interest like no modern 911 ever can.
As much as I admire GT3's I can't escape the fact that I'd always get a little green eyed at the next model up the chain, unless I had an RS nothing else would do.
