Book about Aston Martin

Grant incrementally updates the book. You'll get a hard copy and I received an iPad friendly copy of the update a few months ago.
If you are looking to buy I'd say its the best and worst £20 you can spend. Best being the info, worst because I spent £18k more than I intended to get absolutely the right car

Thank you for the advice. It's just for the information because I'm interested in Aston Martins. Because of my age I can't afford a Aston Martin today. For the road going Astons - the David Dowsey "Power Beauty and Soul" book is an excellent reference style book (2nd edition published 2010 has no reference to 1-77 or new Vanquish) and for the racing Astons, Anthony Pritchard's "Aston Martin - A Racing History" is another excellent choice.

By the time I could afford an Aston Martin, I had also begun to drive sensibly.
With over 400 bhp, perhaps the two things go together well.

carz92, just thinking that if you don't have an Aston as yet, I'm guessing you are after one of these, "coffee table", books. The Aston Martin Journal is bril for this, it was written then the Vanquish was still being made, so it has the Vanquish, V8 Vantage, DB9 and Zagato, but no Rapide or V12V etc, and I'm certain that you'll be devastated, but no Cygnet.
But if you are saving up for an AM, it will probably cover the cars that you will be able to afford, it's a big picture book with a detailed, 'back of the scenes', of how they were made. I have a few books, this is the best by a clear mile ....

Carz92, you don't say what your area of interest is however if you are young I am assuming it's the Gaydon cars, correct? You will find lot's of enthusiasm for those cars here because the Pistonheads Aston forum is mostly frequented by owners of those cars but if you're interested in the history of the marque you may want to research some books about the David Brown era and before. I'll look in my library, I've got plenty of books on Feltham and Newport Pagnell Astons.

Searching for a book with Gaydon cars in it. However, I also like the old Astons (DB4, DB5 and old V8's).MaverickV12 said:

Looks very nice! The absence of the Cygnet isn't a problem haha :P It seems that it is very rare because I can't find it anywhere on the internet. If it were easy to get, then everyone would have one ............ 
They are rare, you'll just have to look, you might have some luck if you go on eBay and look for alternate books, such as the DB9 or Vanquish or V8 brochure from AM, they contain nice pictures but are normally small and are designed to only sell the car, whereas the Journal was a coffee table book about the Icon ........
There are lots of great book on Astons. Some are long out of print and expensive, but for a reference library of the marque, they are well worth searching for. So as well as david Dowsey etc listed above, I would also look out for:
-Aston Martin 1913-1949 by Alan Archer. Great for pre-war
-Original Aston DB4,5,6 by Robert edwards is good.
-The two volume Aston martin & lagonda. Vol 1 by Andrew white, covering all the DB cars up to DBS
Vole 2 by Paul Chudecki (sp?) covering the rest up to the Virage
-Aston Martin V8 by William Presland. Covering all the road cars powered by the 5.3l V8 engine. My personal favourite (well, I am the author...!!)
-DB7, published by Crowood
And the others listed above.
The books published by Palawan press are lovely but carry a hefty price tag. as yet I havent bought any.
Keep an eye out for Aston's own publications. They tend to print these every now and then, in hardback and are lovely, is small pieces of work and cover the latest cars. They also commerorate the last NP cars as well. If you can get on their mailing list, you can get sent a quarterly puclicatio which details the cars (second half). The first half is guff about posh watches, how to pay someone to make you pate etc (ie a lifestyle nobody really leads but they think you should aspire to!!!)
