The Motor Dealer fantasy made up colour chart!
Discussion
Just me who finds this amusing?
Do a search on here, ebay, trader etc, for almost anything. Maybe a model or brand your familiar with.
Revel in wonder at the thousands of hilarious, and completely made up colours that 2nd car dealers come up with!
None of which were ever used by the manufacturers.
Anything green = racing, Brookland or goodwood.
Sparkle, reflex, super silvers.
Got a red car? Got even the faintest whiff of sportiness? Well hello there rosso corsa or exotic Italian rouge.
See what corkers you can find, some are pretty funny!

Great topic and very true.
I have this thing with my wife where her family used to have a vermilion Austin 1100. I had never heard of the colour, I thought it might have been a special edition or something
.
I now explain to her what I read somewhere else, that men are like Windows safe mode and only have 16 colours.

A few years ago I went to try a Honda NSX at a dealer near Gatwick airport. It was an unusual colour for an NSX, which he described in the blurb as ''Charlotte Green'. (Radio 4...)
brilliant. Another one along lines of Schwartz Black is Giallo Yellow/ Giallo Fly Yellow (applied to anything yellow & Italian)
In the trade we have many different names, usually not disclosed to punters;
90 day green - a green so bad it will be with you 90 days before being sent to block
Motab Blue - the colour of the old invalid carriages
Doom Blue - flat dark blue, non-metallic
DCR/DKR - dog cock or knob red, fire engine red
Dysentry or hearing aid beige - self explanatory

"Schwartz black"
Genuine BMW Colour.!This is a perfect example, it just involves the manufacturer too.

Anyone who is someone (and has been round the globe a bit) will surely be conversant in foreign languages and thus feel attracted by a car paint called "Schwartz". For us Germans it is the same, we get all excited by a paint named "Blak". The French have "noar".
Am off now for the regional PH company director summit in Munich.

I think hellrot red is the same.
Anyway, Schwartz might be a BMW colour, but I bet there's been a few "Schwartz" non bmws sold!
A few years back a mate of mine bought a very cheap (and for a very good reason) 635i on ebay in hellrot. It was the most fitting name for a colour I've ever seen Anyway, Schwartz might be a BMW colour, but I bet there's been a few "Schwartz" non bmws sold!

Friend of my Dad's once had a Fiat Mirafiori in what he called "three day green" because he urgently needed a brand new car & it was the only colour the dealer could supply from stock. He had two of the f***ers sitting in his showroom! 90 day green - a green so bad it will be with you 90 days before being sent to block

If was a lovely shade of non-metallic lime green. He never lost it in a car park......
