Bought some new tyres for the car from Camskill but the tyre date is DOT 50/10 which is the 50th week of 2010 so over 2 years old. We all know that rubber perishes somewhat over time. Here's the email reply from camskill,

"You tend to find that with some of the more uncommon sizes that because they dont sell as fast that some of the stock can be upto*a few years old. The tyres came direct from Michelin UK and are absolutely fine (no different to a 2013 DOT code).
They also still have 3 years manufacturers warranty cover on them as this is 5 years from date of manufacture".

Before Xmas I bought same tyres from a local place and they were brand new Dot 50/12 very happy with them. I'm fairly annoyed at this as I paid for new tyres but they are not new in my eyes, am I right to be annoyed. What's the best thing to reply to them to get this resolved.

Unless you made it a condition of your order that the tyres were to be date-coded no later than a certain date you don't have a leg to stand on.

As you bought them online, you are protected by the Distance Selling Regulations

Basically you can send them back for any reason (or no reason) and it is for the seller to organise the return, including paying for it. You simply say, I don't want them, come and get them. I will make them available for you to collect and please reimburse me in full now (in theory before the tyres are even collected)

Good point. Only applies for 7 days after delivery so need to move smartly.

The tyres have been stored in a dry workshop away from UV/damp/extremes of temperature. They're still new tyres- they don't just rot away. If they were for a road car it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
