Personally a breakaway wedge bit is a bit of a non starter in my opinion. For me that is. I like all TVR's. I like the local club meets. I like all that goes with it. I have gripes with it but will live with it as there are up sides to the down sides. The "sides" may be interperated in any way like the lack of BBWF mentions but stand to be corrected there.
Highlights, Gang on the Green, Gorge rumble, many local runs organised by the local club and organiser. Christmas do's, Duxford. Botanicle Gardens, and many others that I could choose to join but did not. Oh and BBWF
Lowlights..................well, there have been one or two but having half an idea of what goes into organising an event, I wouldnt want to do it.

Got to say, gang on the green was one of the best TVR meets i've been to
The best rebel meet was BBWF

Bit of a boozy night last night chaps
Its good to have a rant and a rave now and then. Nice bit of lobbying done by all which is a good thing and i am sure it will be noted.
on the subject of a new club though - at the end of the day we have our own club under the banner of the TvrWedgePages
No comittee, No fee, No hassle, and great fun.Vive le revolution
Cant wait for the Mini Wedge Fest at Oulton Park.
You still up for it Stainless?

I think i put my opinion acoss
Some good news,i've just sorted a deal ,if things work out you should see a Wedge on a bill board soon
nothing to do with the club
Well, maybe that one landed like a damp squib! But there could be some life in it still.
We have shown that we don't necessarily need the club to organise events, and of course we already have our own Wedge Club of sorts with these excellent pages provided by Mike Bressington.
I meant to say New Club, thinking that perhaps thngs could be done better - maybe the initial core could be Wedgers - I don't know.
It does seem, however that there is not much time that goes by without someone complaining about the club in some way.
Perhaps we could continue to watch and see if things improve - a little weak maybe.
Don't forget there is the Jaguar Owners Club, Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, Jaguar Drivers Club - and several clubs for one or two other marques (yes, larger numbers of vehicles perhaps) - and they all seem to live happily alongside each other.
Whatever happens, I'm quite happy for us to continue to arrange gatherings for ourselves - small or large.

I think an additional low/no cost club, using these forums could be useful. I can't help but feel that the main club deals mainly with more modern cars.
It was a suggestion that was made to me from an insurance company. The Mannings policy was uncompetitive for me compared to many other. When talking to other insurance company one suggested that it may be beneficial to have a older TVR club to help with realistic valuations of cars and build up claims history without the influence of the modern cars.
My comments are
1. That through this forum we have the basis of a Wedge Owners Club.
2. We need the TVRCC as well for all the excellent events they organise.
3. It may be a way to cheaper insurance.
4. There may be other benefits discussed previously.
5. It would not need the hassle/cost of a monthly magazine
6. It may become a platform to influence the TVRCC from to our benefit.
7. Will there be anybody interested in running it?
We are very close to having this already through these forums, we just need to see what the benefits would actually be, and what additional management would be required.

I was a club member from 1990 to 2002, during that time the basic rule of thumb was 50% of the members owned cars less than 7 years old and 50% owned them greater than 7 years old. The club has to concentrate on the majority of members and now that S, Griffith and Chimaera are over 7 years old, it does mean that most of the club members own post-Wedge cars.
I don't believe a breakaway group is in the interest of most people, its actualy far harder to organise events (and you never please everyone) on a repeated business than most people imagine. During my TVRCC days the club did a pretty good job overall.
Its probably easier for you to organise inpromptu events through word of mount and PH than it is to form a club.
Just my 2p

During my time as a TVRCC memeber we had firstly the pre-1980 breakaway faction, ie the menmber
