I'm looking out for an MX5 and stumbled upon this one.

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

Apparently, it has a few Mazdaspeed tweaks, which seem to have lifted the power somewhat. Anyone tried one of these or know this one? The interior looks a bit tired for my liking, is this an easy (cheap) fix? Would it be a better/cheaper/easier option to buy a nice one (Goodwood Sportscars seems to have some nice well priced stock) and tweak that? As its a second car the budget alas is only 2.5K

Comments either way welcome.

That looks very tidy to me and the interior looks reasonable for a 22 year old car.
I'd take the 140bhp with a pinch of salt though. It should have more than the standard 114bhp but I'm not sure those mods will really add 26bhp.

Agreed - also it will probably have been setup to run on Japanese hi-octane which is around 100 octane I think off the top of my head. If you did get it, it would be worth getting on a rolling-road to get it set up on UK fuel...unless you want to run V-Power + Octane booster of course.

Thanks for those replies. There is a UK 94 with just 30k miles came up locally. Gonna go for that one.

Not sure I quite agree with "leave well alone" but I'd rather buy a car that's been used more regularly. These are cars that can handle massive mileage so low mileage isn't a bonus like it is with a lot of cars. On the positive side, it should be like new inside. Hopefully it's still been serviced annually otherwise I'd walk away too.
