hi all , iv got a 94 m reg chimaera that has a digital odometer , when i bought the car in dec last year the battery had run out in the odometer , the dealer sent it off and had the battery replaced for me ( cost me about £ 60 i think ) anyway my question is (1) can i change this to analog (2)is there actually any point in changing it , and lastly all the chimaeras iv seen have been analog , why did they fit both ? is one any better than the other ? thanks for any of your comments

I have a '94 too and that has an LCD odometer - it's pretty common for the battery to die after about 15 years (mine has - I just haven't bothered getting it fixed). They can reinstate a mileage reading if you have previous MOTs to roughly verify what the mileage should be...

I wouldn't have thought there was any reason to change it for anything else - the mechanical ones are somewhat well known for "sticking" on a ,000 mile rollover too. biggrin
