hi all, done a fair bit of research and thinking of taking the plunge into 911 0wnership - weekend toy only - seen the above at £16K from a good specialist - 5 owners puts me off a bit but it is a 10 yr old car - is this good value or a bit overpriced ?

Depends on its condition. But it is top money.

Crikey, values have take a tumble....I bought my 2002 996 C4S in with 50k miles in Jan 2009 for £25k! Well, maybe not a tumble, but more than I'd have expected!

C4 fetches less than C4S, don't panic.

"C4 Coupe Tiptronic S" .... I read that as a C4S that happened to be a Tip....

The s refers to the gearbox not the model.

Where did you see this car advertised ? I have just traded a 996 C4 with Portiacraft and it is a superb car. If this is the one I can give you full history and all for the last two and a bit years. C4 Seal Grey and black. Extensive history, re conditioned wheels, almost new tyres, unmarked body. Tiptronic, no expense spared maintenace by Unit11 in Warrington. I think that 16k is very reasonable and am impressed with Portiacraft.

Am struggling to get to grips with a 996 C4S for £16k; that doesn't sound right.
I was offered £19k at Christmas by a specialist dealer, 43k on the clock FSH, black on black '03 plate.

Get it inspected for £300 by reputable type, you will then go into it with your eyes open and your wallet informed.

Five owners should not put you off, it's the condition of the car that counts (do you know what good is? Read some books, there are good ones out there for 996s) and whether it has been serviced (major and minor) at the right time by OPC or well known specialist.
Trust me, get it inspected if you really want it (eg Peter Morgan). £16k sounds 'cheap', but I may be way out of touch with prices.
Not sure if you are new to Porkers/Performance cars, but allow for £1200 in tyres every 18 months or so, £300 for minor service per annum, and of course whatever insurance rate you've ended up on. You cannot run these cars cheaply, but well cared for they will not hurt too much.
Enjoy!

5 owners in 10 years is probably the norm.
