Will the supercharged XJR fit in the Chimaera? The LS will fit . The XKR`s are cheap and 420hp

It would fit with either chassis mods or the engine sitting very high

I saw one of those engines sat at Lloyds and have to say that the first thing I thought was "Ohhh that'd look lovely under the bonnet of the Tiv..." but yes, they are rather wide! There's something about the way that modern day engines are so tightly designed that makes 'em quite appealing ... makes the old RV8 installation look like a badly packed kebab. hehe

Check this out for modding the chassis in a similar vein. This car looks awesome! Oh, and check out the dyno!!!

Actually, there are quite a few differing V8's for sale if you have the knowledge, equipment and expertise:

Cheaper than a TVR Chimaera engine: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-XJR-XKR-4-0-V8-SU...

Nice and cheap too: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-ml55-amg-v8-pet...

This would be awesome in something as light as a Chim: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Engine-Complete-with-loo...

And so would this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-M3-V8-SMG-E90-2010-C...

yikes And finally, if you have the cash: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009-FERRARI-F430-SCUDER...

I'd rather eat my arm than put a German engine in a TVR wink

Which arm? You would have to fit an auto box!

Looks can be deceptive, It looks bloody wide but in fact the engine block is a similar width to the rover lump. Its the DOCH cylinder heads that become the issue and thats without the manifolds, there exactly where the top rail of the chassis is. Yes you could raise the height of the engine but then you start altering the angle of the drive line of the propshaft.

It is also a 90 degree V8 rather than an LSx at 60. Chassis top rails could be a real challenge.

I don't understand the point of all this engine change stuff.... Sure, if you want an easy 450bhp plus more to come (500 bhp and beyond) so you have a car you can run the quarter mile with, i.e. a hot rod, then that's cool.... but if you're looking for a fast road car that's probably going to be quicker than anything else you're ever going to meet on the public road, why not just turbo a 500??

Once you get North of 350bhp the Chim becomes a bit of a handfull.... particularly on anything other than bone dry warm surfaces.... and that's talking from experience... Maybe around 400-430 BHP and you still have a viable package, but 450/500 bhp in a road car???? That's nuts... The chassis and suspension set up was never intended to handle that kind of power....

Just my personal opinon, and I know I'm gonna get shot down.... (and by whom wink )
