Dear All, My 996TT needs new turbo/intercooler heatshields. Rather than £750 from OPC I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good independent servicer. My car is from JZM a few years ago and has always been serviced at OPC. Any recs? I live in Surrey so prefer less than an hour's drive to an independent. Thanks all.

I have recently used Nine Excellence near Gatwick who were great. Also GT One in Chertsey in the past who were also good to deal with.

I used GT One last year for my Boxster and found them knowledgable and very easy to deal with. I bought my 996TT from Northway who are near Reading so are about an hour away depending on where in Surrey you are and was very impressed with their capability and openness as well. My next service will be with them just in case anything needs doing whilst the car is still covered by the after sales warranty. I do fancy popping to Nine Excellence for some fettling at some point as they really know their turbos

If you want specific expertise on the 996 Turbo, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone more knowledgeable than Ken and his team at 9e. I had a CEL a while ago driving from Portsmouth to Kent. I gave them a rather anxious call and they were happy for me to take it straight there as I was almost passing. They spent over an hour with the car running a variety of checks and diagnosed the fault - then didn't charge me for their time! - Excellent service and they've gained a loyal customer. I'll be back there in the spring for their stage 2 tune.

Another recommendation for NineExcellence - and I've used all the mentioned indy's in the past (JZM, Northway and GT One). NineExcellence are the best of the lot in my experience - very happy with them and can't imagine taking my car anywhere else.

Yep, used GT1 for many years. I have also used cayman autos in Dorking to good effect on my Boxster http://www.caymanautos.co.uk/. They are very good with (cabrio) roofs too.

I can really recommend 9E n/ Gatwick. JZM Kings Langley are also top.

If I can chip in for Nine-X in Maidenhead. Owned by a friend of mine Andy and his business partner James. They both race Porsche 944/968's and Andy has his own GT2.
I believe they had a write up in 911 and Porsche world mag last month.
