Used to always want one when I was younger. Held one at a nature park yesterday and got me thinking.
Anyone on here own one? How was it? any difficulties? I was a bit put off when they said they can live 30 years! That's some commitment! Are they fairly easy to look after?
I'd be after a corn snake or something easy to look after and not too aggressive!

Yep, I have a Royal Python and a Corn snake.
I'd say the Royal is more interesting than the corn snake, who spends a lot of the time hiding. Never been bitten by either of them. Both very calm and easy to take care of.
Beware, once you have one you'll want more
Next one I get will either be a Hognose or a Brazilian Rainbow Boa. No hurry at the moment though

Can u feed them any prepared food (as you do with dogs and cats - tinned food etc.) or even chicken or steak?!? The girlfriend used to have rats so wouldn't be too keen on us feeding them mice or rats - even though they have to be dead!
ONly ever heard of chicks and mice being fed. And you have to heat them up to body temp too. This is my little (4ft 7) Cornsnake
They are really easy to look after, feed weekly. clean out every 8 weeks. I give mine a walk every week or so to give her a proper stretch out. Granted she's not the most entertaining pet, but I've hadher about 5 1/2 years and I still enjoy just sitting and watching her in her tank
