Depends on the station... but they do have to check it, and if it doesnt do anything, then its a fail...
It has to have at least 60% resistance, I think that normally is enough to cover it.... IMO....

lol .. only 16% actually on a split/dual system .. most cerbies don't make this unless they have the pivot mod done and / or the mechanism modified

You could do with a 'TVR Friendly' MOT station. Emissions are also a problem.

I just took mine for an mot but before taking it cleaned the drums and sanded the shoes but it still only managed about half the required braking force. Was not aware there was a pivot mod , David

the pivot mod is for early cars, they fixed the cable to the wrong hole on the handbrake lever, doh!

there's another set of mods I do to improve things further, but theyre very time consuming and cost in labour is about 250 pounds. It modifies the working of the whole system.

If you're coming up here Paddy, let me know, and we'll go for a pint. It'll be good to meet.

Got any further details? Does it actually make it useable like a "normal" handbrake?

I have further details, but they're locked in a safety deposit box deep deep deep underground ..

I had the Joolz handbrake mod done to try to encourage my other half to drive the Cerb.

That didn't work but the handbrake mod certainly did .

Have you been driving around Roundhay recently. My misses has seen a couple of cerberas around. Another one with an M** plate on it. All blue cars I might add.

Back on topic, this is the best description of the handbrake I've read on PH.

Cerbera handbrake is fine. You just have to know how to use it as its location and activation techinque are different to most cars.

It's not in the normal position - it's the forward of the 2 levers on the transmission tunnel. (The rear one if just for looping the handles of your take-away bag over when there's not a passenger). You have to push this lever left then forward while pressing the left pedal. You then switch the engine off and release the left pedal again. Of course it only funtions when the engine's not running, but other than that, it holds just fine.

[thread politely borrowed]

I have been out and about a little, especially since I found a multistorey car park I can actually use! Mine has a TVR plate.

I've seen C* BRA (?) around in the city centre, also blue.
[thread returned, thank you]

You have drums on your Cerb?
