Hi

Looking to change from my Pirelli P6000's as there are rubbish in the wet, been looking at Toyo T1R's and Uniroyal Rainsport 2's, anyone had any experiences with these or suggest any others?

Mainly drive the car in the dry but with the rubbish UK waether ideally need a tyre thats both good in the dry & wet?

Any suggestions would be grateful smile

Thanks, Tim

We had that size on our mx-5. I thought the T1-R was decent and well priced.

Friends who have run the rainsports just say how good they are. So id suggest those.

I personally dislike t1rs but if you like them then fair enough.

Personally, there are cars I wouldn't put them on, but a fat-sidewalled MX-5 isn't one of them.

Thanks for the suggestions

T1R's and Rainsports are the same sorta price so think I'll give the Rainsports a go and see how I get on with them, trip next month to Wales so will get a chance to test them out unless its snowing smile

I've got T1Rs on mine (15") and have found them to be great in the dry, a little quick to lock up in the wet. I found exactly the same when I had them on my Chimaera. Price wise though, £42 a corner for a higher performance tyre is a trade off that must be considered.

Another tick for the Uniroyals
but
useless in snow
so
I have Avon IceTourings for winter but Rainsport2s are great otherwise

Try camskill, I can get the rainsport2's for my mk3 far cheaper with them than with black circle. Mine are 205/45/17 and they are £107 with blacks while they are £84 with Camskill

Just checked (as I'm at work and bored) and your size (195/50/15) for delivery only is £9 a tyre cheaper on camskill.

And Camskill price doesn't include fit & balance. Very good if you have somewhere cheap locally for fitting though.

MK3 try 215/45/17.

Michelin PE2 awesome tyres wet or dry.

Federal rsr's transform the car on track & make excellent road tyres at supprising prices.

Any reason for the wider and taller tyres than the recommended 205/45/17? Surely acceleration would suffer slightly although mpg may be slightly better (virtually unnoticeable on both counts) due to lower rpm's at set cruising speeds. The bigger tyre will also raise the car height slightly, surely you don't want a higher centre of gravity?

I actually have no idea here and I'm just guessing
