Now that I have changed/upgraded my side lights and dipped beam, the main beam seems so much duller, has anybody fitted HID Xenons to both dipped and main beam?

Have you fitted some HID's to the dipped beam? My S has HID's on the main beam as standard and they're much brighter than the dipped halogen!

Yes, I fitted HID's to the dipped beam over 4 years ago, I have just fitted a new set as one bulb had blown (cheaper than buying a new bulb from Halfords) I have always wanted to upgrade the sidelights to something brighter which I have just done and now the main beam looks dim in comparison. The thing I want to know is if I now upgrade my main beam to HID's, will it cause problems to the wiring etc??

I fitted HIDs to mine years ago too, and from what I recall (with the car being a Red Rose, it had the main beam HIDs), they're very similar to the aftermarket sets that you buy. Making it a "main beam" is actually the job of the projector lenses smile

I don't think you'll have problems with the wiring, once they're working HIDs actually consume less power than normal light bulbs...

Just looking into this upgrade as well and going for h7 5000k. However does anybody know the actual size of bulb? Seen a site which has 42 and 45mm bulbs and also some with anti glare but unsure which to go for.

I upgraded both my dipped and full beam with HIDs. You need the 45mm bulbs, I used the H7R bulb for the main beam as it is a reflector rather than projector lens. Price off fleabay was £25 for ordinary bulb and £30 for the H7R including next day courier.

S6boy, here is the link to a previous forum on HID lights which does include a couple of links to the ones that I used.

Thanks chaps.
Chim450, did you use the H7R for the dipped beam as well? I've never even considered whether the Tuscan has projector lenses or not rolleyes
Macey liking the look of those little LED side lights a lot, thanks for the link, are yours fitted yet?

Yes, I have them fitted in the sidelights, in my opinion it finishes the front lights off, they looked so dim before

No, I used just a normal H7 on the dipped beam. I have also got LED sidelights, looks much better!

Chim450 and Macey, thanks for your help and the links. I followed your advice and went for these:

LED side lights:

HiD dipped mains:

...first thoughts were they were too blue and really don't like that, but just wait a few seconds for them to warm up and...

Really pleased and for the cost it was a no brainer.
