ITV have just shown 3 commercial breaks in 25 minutes! I wish they would do that during the football!

They have a fixed number of breaks to squeeze in during each race. They try to put them in when the race appears to be in a "static" phase (although they do seem to miss the odd event - like Bruni's fire today).

And am I alone in being massively irritated by the ads for the Daily Telegraph that bracket each ad break?

Nope, they're very irritating for most people I would imagine.

Everything about the ITV coverage is irritating... except Martin Brundle. Jim Rosenthal is dreadful and James "we are R-A-C-I-N-G" Allen is worse!

Alternative viewing on Motors TV (sky ch.413) today included Le Mans Endurance Series live from Spa this afternoon, followed this evening by the Champ Car World Series race live from Monterrey, California. In both events the coverage has been better than ITV F1 and despite being a commercial station, they have shown virtually no ad breaks!

Talking of James Allen, did you hear his commentary at the end when we were waiting for Bazzachello to get onto the podium:

" there will be a short delay whilst Rubens tries to find some Kleenex"

-Ferrari really did cream the opposition then!

The amount of advertising during the F1 prog is now totally unacceptable and way exceeds that in several other European countries where I've viewed F1 this season. In these they tend to have more frequent breaks but of 10-15 seconds length. In the UK we have to put up with long feature ads that go on and on and on plus the Telegraph bookends. I've now given up watching F1 live and watch it later, fast-forwarding through all the ad breaks (and some of the "racing" too).

I've given up watching the race now, I can just about cope if I Sky+ and watch it 40 minutes after, but I usually catch up with like TV by then end due to adverts and dull bits.

Prefer the hour highlights ITV do on a Sunday or Monday night, everything important is included (except the lingering views of Jenson's girlfriend!) and its only a third of the race time.

Besides on a sunday afternoon I'd rather be out
