Thought about leaving it in gear but thought It'd be o.k.
Got distacted by clearing up some dog
, (parents are away so I'm in charge of the mutt). Looked out about 10 minutes later & thought Mmm didn't remember parking the Spit so close to the garage.
Come out and find this
Had to move some ramps in the garage to get better access to the door runners. Had two Large Spiders run under the Chim
When I mean big, I mean big, they waddled more than ran.
I hate spiders btw.
Got the garage door fixed now, luckily no dents to car or the door. I think I'll leave it in gear next time.

Always leave your car in gear when parked.I always do on the Chim, The Supra is an auto (with a handbrake that works) and thought the Spit would be o.k as 1. it has only had an MOT about 6 months ago, and 2. it hasn't got rear discs that would cool & contract.
Now more concerned about the pair of spiders looking for a new home

About 6 months ago I was clearing out my bedside drawer and I found a leg, and an antannae thingy, and a few other spider parts.
This thing had at one stage been less than 2 feet from my head
was one of the big ones aswell. Always leave a spitfire in gear.
The rear drums have a dual piston at the top of the shoes and an adjuster at the bottom. This means that they are only effective after just being tightened (ie. just before the MOT)!
Its nice tightening them up occasionally (1/4 inch square spanner) since you get 'good' brakes for a mile or two
PS. My old spitfire's tonneau cover has been sitting in my spare room for 2 years now. Any interest (free to good home). (I see you have the fasteners by the airducts but not the poppers...)
Now what about a tonneau for the Chim?
The rear drums have a dual piston at the top of the shoes and an adjuster at the bottom. This means that they are only effective after just being tightened (ie. just before the MOT)!

The wheels were done in 1995, when I got the car as a box of bits. The guy had them sprayed, he said they were stove enameled or something. I don't think they were as when the tyres were fitted small bits of paint came off the side of the rims.
It's not a bad car, one of the nicer Spitfires around I would say. It's had new sills and a passenger door skin before I got it.The underneath is really solid.
I know the history of the car back to 1985. Both the previous owners worked with my Dad.
