Just taken my shiny new evo 9 fq-360 out in thee snow. She is wearing winter tires. Pop it into snow mode and off we go. Absolutely brilliant. Feeling a bit smug now. Took the mrs to work along snowy single track lanes and even managed a bit of boost time.

What a bloody fantastic bit of kit, animal in the dry, brilliant in the snow, able to chase motorbikes and still got 4 doors and a big boot. I'm a little bit in love with her.

That'll be a very capable car in this kind of weather. Don't be fooled into thinking that "snow mode" will be much use to you though, that will only come into play when driving more "enthusiastically" than is really appropriate on most of our roads! (Keeps the centre diff locked for longer when powering out of corners.)

The only thing stopping me taking mine out in the snow is the fear of the other drivers who might crash into my P&J.

They are the best vehicle for all occasions. You can buy your big 4x4 and be smug for one week in the winter when it snows...but for the rest of the year you're stuck with a big slow ugly monstrosity. My GT-four is pretty good in the snow even on summer tyres.

So an AWD Evo on decent winter tyres is good in the snow? Don't worry, the PH driving Gods will be along shortly to tell you that you are deluded and that they could manage better than you in an M3 on summer tyres. rolleyesrolleyesrolleyes

Did you clear the snow off your car before driving? The local police to me LOVE to pull people over who haven't properly cleared snow off their car.

I use a big soft bristled brush with a 4 foot handle. Make sure you clear the lights so people can see you. I think it's also a good idea to clear the big chunks off the horizontal surfaces too, else it might fly off and distract the driver behind or worse if it's a more vulnerable road user like a bike or cycle.

Why would it be, there's no ruddy snow on the ground?

Very odd that it all managed to land on your car instead.

I don't know, I can chase Usain Bolt. Wouldn't catch him though frown

Out of interest, how are bikes in snow - skinny rubber but cut slicks? I'm not a biker by the way!

My S2000 is doing admirally in 1 - 2 inches of snow. Winter tyres are on though - need all the help I can get.

Surprisingly good, mostly because the tyres cut in to the snow, and provide a little grip. The reason you don't see many in the white is because snow mostly accompanies ice, and bikes are no fun at all on ice.

fking nasty, unless you're on a trail bike with knobblies on. It's bad enough in cold dry weather; I once managed a 180 spin on my SV650 coming out of a junction (young and stupid, and hadn't ridden for a couple of months due to the weather), no idea how I didn't fall over.

My boss got a lift in because he didn't think his 3 Series would make it home with the forecast heavy snow.

Me? I drove the Z4 in, and am trusting my guardian angel to give the grip I need to get home (or even out of the car park).
