apologies if prev repeated - New(ish)to this
Just bought 4 new winter tyres that need fitting in N. London
Rang 4 local Fwikqit garages for quotes: 2 only fit own-sold tyres, 1 charges £96, 1 charge £60
Questions:
1.Why the discrepancy?
2.Is this a fair quote (£60)
3.Should I get this done by them? other PH experiences for just tyre changing? (I note 'variable' service from other threads)
4. Any recommendations for tyre changing only in N. London

thks in advance for advice/comments proferred

they hate you buying tyres cheap thats all so they rip you off taking your own

£10 to £15 per tyre is the going rate I found.

should have got event tyres to do it at your house, cheapest tyres and free fitting.

I don't know how you got a quote at Kwik-fit. Totally against policy to fit customer's own tyres.

£60 as a one-off retail job in that London sounds fair.

Got mine at wintertyreoutlet.co.uk, which seem to beat all comers at the mo
Thks for etyres recc (£90) - most other online fitters only fit tyres they sell
Most concerned about how they would treat the rims when changing, so will prob give FwikQit a bodyswerve

any other thoughts welcome
thks for input guys

I also use the local etyres guy to fit. I give him a chance to match my online price and if he's close enough then he does the lot, if not, then I order online and he just fits them. £50 for all 4 corners (East Midlands, not London prices).

You could try the "Find a Local Fitter" on the http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/tyre-fitting-s... site (which is incidentally where I generally tend to find the best price and availability of car tyres.

Good luck.

I got my tyres from mytyres.co.uk, and they have a list of fitting stations. You could always find a fitter in your area and give them a call...

This. Find a local non chain fitter. Possibly from the options on mytyres.

My local guy is on there and charges £10. (Midlands price though)
