Due to a company car arriving soon we are looking to get rid of our 500, before I go cap in hand to the local garages or webuyanycar I thought I guage the interest levels first.

Looking on Autotrader there are only two for sale within 40 miles and about 60 in the trade, I'm guessing this means that people selling them are happy to trade them in as opposed to making max price for themselves.

I may be stereotyping a little too much here but everyone I know with a 500 knows absolutely nothing about cars, and most will go back to the garage after their lease period is over.

I quite fancied the idea of a 500, but used values seem to be very healthy, and I didn't want one THAT much, as I like a bargain. Also, my wife has some inexplicable hatred of small/cute cars - I ended up with a Mondeo. I reckon you'll get a decent price for it, if my experience researching the market to buy one is anything to go by. Good luck.

Seems like loads of them about and seeing as they are the mainstay of Fiat i'm not surprised.

I think a lot of the cars appeal with be down to spec and price wanted for that, whether it's the newer twin air and quite simply distance.

Strange, as all I seem to read about in Evo these days is how great the peppy little Twinair engine is, how great it sounds and this is a car for people 'in the know' about cars.

Maybe 50% of people who buy them are sheep and just buy them as they are seen as 'cool' and the other 50% buy them as they know there's a gem of an engine in it (...at least according to Evo).

What's the general concensus on here?

I would be very surprised if even 1% of Fiat 500 buyers have heard of Evo, let alone its opinion of that car. I would also wager that most Fiat 500s are bought for, or by women, who just want a "cute" car. The rest are bought by BSM.

A friend of mine has a TwinAir. I've been in it several times and I was always impressed by how much grunt it has for such a small engine! Plenty of power up to 70mph. You never really get the claimed consumption though as you're too busy pressing the loud pedal smile

He said the brakes are a bit iffy, but it seems to be a lot of fun to drive at normal road speeds.

Just a classic one, the Ebay ad went mental, people were ready to travel hundreds of miles clutching cash.

New ones arent as hard to find so more competition, dont assume all 500 owners are daft young girls with money burning a hole in their pockets.
