DB9 Volante rear seats

I'm thinking of changing my Vantage Roadster for something equally as sporty but with rear seats. I've looked at the DB9 Volante and would like the view on the practicality of the rear seats from anyone who has owned one.

Are they simply a waste of time or can they be used for children, if so is it only practical for short journeys?

They are useless, there as either a tax break or a company car option in certain markets. They do have isofix so for very small children you could get one in the passenger side if the front seat was forward.

Or if you're very short and your kids are tiny? But my seat is right back and I'm not that tall...

If you want 4 seats, it's a Rapide for you

You will find that the Vantage optimises its space in a superior manner to that of the DB9, despite the interior of the 9er being more spacious. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried one.

Rear seats are not entirely useless but are only really pertinent as an afterthought rather than a reason to buy the car

as far as I'm concerned, the Rapide is the DB9 with a 'proper' rear seat option - not the 4 door super saloon it's sometimes seen as - that's the one to go for to carry rear seat passengers

I am 6 ft 2 and have the seat right back. Our 2 year old sits behind me. My wife is 5 ft 8 and the 5 year old sits behind her. Wife not really that comfy.

I got in the back to access the rear light and almost passed out!

The kids will fit for a bit yet...

Totally agree with Yeti, I never use my rear seats for anything other extended boot space. If you happen to have no arms or legs then by all means give it a go, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend using them.

I use my db9v with my daughter in the back all the time and its fine.
She's quite tall for her age too, but she's still just a 5 yr old. I've had older kids in the back and that's never been a problem either.
I've had adults in the back but only because there was no other choice and they were *not* comfortable.

My 9 year old twins refuse to sit in the back of my DB9V and if they do then my head is about 3" from the steering wheel!

I would say the rear seats are only any use for kids under 7 at most.

Took my family of 6 (including me) to SkyFall (I couldn't see the film in any other car), ok there were a few people on peoples laps and one 6 year old in the back in the middle.

Adults in the back are a no-no. I regulary drive with kids in the back, have done some hour long journeys with kids in back and no problem at all. Having said that had a adult in the back and went from city centre for about 10 minutes and had to use a crowbar to get him out ......

I had 3 adult friends in my Dad's DB9V.
The roof had to been lowered, the journey short and the front seats uncomfortably positioned forward.
With the roof up, I could only fit one friend in the back who had to almost lay across the back!

While you can do it, I wouldn't recommend it for secure, comfortable travel.

I should think small children would be OK, but they would require leg room and you are tall I would think twice.
Best thing to do is take the family along to a viewing of DB9 and try to fit them in

DGW67, the solution is .... take the family on a trip to the car showrooms, you go to the LandRover one first, you hand back your 4.0Diesel X5 and upgrade it to a lovely nice new RR, with DVD screens. The wife is happy, the children are happy ........ (please don't tell me the X5 is new)

Then you go to the Aston dealer and get whatever you want ..........
