underbonnet chassis number sticker replacement

I am looking at a GT3 and in the history file there is a receipt for a new underbonnet chassis sticker from Ninemeister (for £100)!
What would be the reasons to do this beyond if the bonnet had been replaced due to crash damage?!!
Are we talking old school bonnet white sticker? It was my understanding that they can't be reproduced by Porsche. What would be the reasons to do this beyond if the bonnet had been replaced due to crash damage?!!
They do fade with time. With the internet excitement about missing stickers, I have always wondered what would happen once they start fading or falling off due to age.
Also do note, 2005 year GT3s do not have the under bonnet sticker at all from new.
(of course, in some cases they may be missing for the wrong reasons)

Didn't know you could by them!
I've always used them as a bit of an originality indicator (although it would only prove the bonnet was original anyway).
My GT3 one is a bit "bubbly" but I'd still rather keep it than replace it. If the codes ever become unreadable I may buy a new one but take a pic of the old one before removal.

you can get them from any opc as they fade
Tony are you sure? Is this on any age Porsche? The amount of older 911s I've walked away from because the sticker is missing is quite alot. ie bonnet damage/replacement issues. I was always told if there was one and it looked to new it was a fake, because Porsche do not reprint them.Hi mate I'm good. Just ticking the days of winter off the calendar one by one, as we get through it.
I hope you're enjoying that 993 still and equally enjoying ticking things off the ever present to-do list these cars have.
I'd hoped I would leave to-do lists behind with the aircooled cars but I've realised it's me not the cars so I now have a watercooled to-do list.
Anyway, all the best for the year ahead.

I once had a 997 GT2 with lots of carbon fibre, including the door entry guards, which go part way up the B pillar and look very nice. However, Porsche in their wisdom put the standard ID sticker, with VIN and colour (and tyre pressures I think) on top of it, which looked horrible
and ruined the look of the very-expensive carbon fibre.
The sticker could easily have been put elsewhere so I enquired about a replacement, and was quoted £128+VAT as it's vehicle-specific and hence has to be made to order. I've never asked, but I would imagine the under bonnet sticker may also be available.

+1 here.
I've always been told they were factory issue only and to always check it carefully, even the font and size of rads on the corners.
Hi Mark, how are you? I've always been told they were factory issue only and to always check it carefully, even the font and size of rads on the corners.

Thats exactly what I was told to look for. Faded is in a way even better, because it's hard to replicate.

Mine is faded, and I've often thought of getting it replaced, but haven't done so for this exact reason.
Before the underbonnet data sticker was discontinued the cars came with half the sticker attached to the bonnet and the remaining half and a second sticker attached to a non stick backing paper. At PDI the sticker was fully attached to the bonnet and the second sticker was installed in the service book. Porsche do not reproduce the data sticker. Process was dropped a number of years ago.
VIN stickers are available; take 6-12wks to arrive and are rightfully difficult to obtain.

Checked with 9M today and confirmed receipt true and new under bonnet chassis sticker had been supplied for £100 +vat in 2009.Could not explain why though, so I suppose could be an extremely pedantic owner, or possibly due to a bonnet replacement?
I'm pretty sure that's not the label we are talking about. Ie the chassis label location that the previous owner of your car replaced isn't under the front of the bonnet.Or have I lost the plot. It wouldn't be the first time :-)
