Anyone know how to stop the windows rattling when they are wound down on an S2?

The dealer has had one go at the drivers side which does seem better ... trouble is the passenger side has now joined in!

On another topic can anyone recommend a sports exhaust for an S2? I had the Janspeed system on my S1 which I though offered the perfect balance of throaty roar with the throttle open whilst still being pretty civilsed on a closed or part open throttle.

I recently went for a ride in an S2 with the Lotus system and to me it was all resonance and boom and no tone ... any suggestions for alternatives? I really just want something that sounds throaty but which is not over the top (and which doesn't resonate the undertray).

We do a fabulous hand-made, stainless-steel, sports exhaust for the Lotus Elise from TubiStyle.

If you don't know about TubiStyle - they typically supply racing teams and build for Ferraris and Lamborghinis - they're a bloody good manufacturer - they supply the Ferrari F1 team with their exhaust systems and manifolds so they mean business.

For all their road products, Tubistyle's mission statement is - and I quote - "to turn engine sounds into music." Hear an F355 with one and it'll make you weak at the knees.

The Lotus Elise system is a brand new product - a bloody serious one at that - and I honestly think its better than pretty much anything else out there.

I'm loathe to bother people with plugs/emails/phone calls so send me an email with your phone number and I'll give you a call.

leave the window wound up just enough that the glass is poking up between the rubber, this will hold it in place and stop it rattling...

Sounds like a simple solution - I'll give it a go!

Thanks.

Ive now tried this out and it does improve things, but the drivers side is still significantly better than the passengers - I gusss it back to the dealer to get the passenger side 'fixed' as well.

PTP-ltd.co.uk and Race-speed.com offer the origonal factory Janspeed Super Sport stainless rear silencer for the S2 for about £ 275.00 quid, it includes new nuts and bolts as the old ones tend to break off and a lifetime warranty.

The Janspeed certainly seems to be everyone's favourite. Does anyone have any comments regarding quality and sound?

I am after something that sounds good when you go for it, but which is discrete when you dont!

It was at the Service Centre at the factory. They happened to be working on an ex works car when I was there so one of the mechanics took me down the road for a spin ...

Yes the roof was on (soft top), but the undertray was not! I wonder if this might have contributed to the increased noise ... I wouldn't have thought so as if anything I would expect the undertray to contribute to resonsance and 'boom'.

jweedon. I've recently taken delivery of a new s2. the offside window started to rattle when it was fully wound down. I took the trim panel off to investigate etc but needn't have bothered. There is a crosshead/philips screw which is located in the front window channel where it meets the wing mirror. The screw comes loose, and the window rattles. tighten it up and it stops. easy peasy !! Oh yes, a sports exhaust makes in car entertainment irrelevent. just to the note at 4000+ rpm !!

Janspeed exhaust is SS and guarenteed for life..

Once warmed up[10 mins or so]
the sound is deep and not raspy like some other SS exhausts
this is because the quality of the SS is quite high i believe...

The Janspeed on the S2 is louder than the S1 [i have had both] - this is due to the larger diameter oval pipes..

Popping is lovely - specially when the exhaust is superheated - like on a hard run.....

Some have been known to droop a little on the bushings fitting on S2 - easily fixed and adjusted free by the dealer who fits it....
this is a design fault and is being remedied for the new exhaust being supplied...

Which dealers fit the Janspeed in the midlands area. So far I've only come across Lotus own brand being fitted at dealers (eg Sheffield). Does a tuning chip come inclusive with the fitting?
