I want an SLK55 AMG, but traction control + gearbox issues
Discussion
I owned an SLK55 AMG as a daily driver a few years ago and whilst I loved the concept there were several things that annoyed me. I sold the car and replaced it with an AMV8 but am now considering buying another as a replacement for my Chimaera...
Two of my annoyances - the really firm ride and poor phone won't be as issue if I use it as an occasional fun car, but two biggies remain:
1. Traction control - in common with most AMG Mercs the system cannot be completely disabled. This used to frustrate me as sometimes it would let the car oversteer with traction off and sometimes it would stop the fun. It made it tricky to drive on the limit not knowing what it would do... I have heard whisper that it can be fully switched off using some special sequence. Can anyone help?
2. The gearbox. Car drives very well in full auto mode but the paddles often didn't change down when asked to - and I was well within the rev limit. I know that some more modern cars can have their gearbox software modified and improved, is it possible with an SLK55?
