Hi, Probably been reported before but as the PH search function is currently down I can't lookup.

After a normal say 20 mile journey either to or from work my car mists up all windows within about 20 minutes.
The current cold temperature probably isn't helping ( 0 degrees) but there is obviously a breathing issue somewhere.
I can find no damp patches in the car

Any idea's

Thanks

Pretty normal, the A/C also cuts out below circa 3'C which would normally stop the windows misting up.

Keep the a/c on as much as possible(although see above).

Keep silica gel pouches somewhere in the cabin.

That's about all I can suggest, it isn't uncommon at all.

Have you checked floor behind both seats and base of both doors for damp patches?

Mine doesn't mist up at all over a journey of the same miles, I can't see how this can be a common issue if you have the a/c on?

Sounds like there is damp in the car somewhere?

As already stated, at <3'C the A/C cuts off.

That's as may be but <3c air doesn't hold much moisture so if that's coming into the car and being heated on the way, there should be no condensation issues unless a lot of moisture is being introduced elsewhere or something is significantly preventing proper ventilation flow.

Yes, but as stated my car still doesn't mist up, even below 3c (nor did any other car I have owned that had a/c) hence why it seems some other issue is causing the issue?

Have you left your dog in the car?

Mine only mists up a wee bit when getting back from a ski and covered in snow/moisture that evaporates but it clears pretty fast once warmed up... suggests some wetness in there to me. (dog notwithstanding)

All 3 of mine have, Cayman, 997(only had it for three weeks) and 991. I live in the dampest damp of mid wales though.

Only thing that stopped it was silica gel pouches everywhere out of sight and leaving the a/c on when it wasn't ridiculously cold.

I was under the impression that the cooling component switches off at 3deg but the dehumidification still functions?

Cold air (3C) holds much less moisture so even if aircon working it won't pull much out . The a/c is a red herring here - sounds like something is damp.

What dehumidification? The air is dehumidified in the act of 'conditioning' it. Cooling it causes condensation, drying the air. If the A/C cuts off, there will be no more drying but, as said, at less than 3C, it will be pretty dry anyway.

If there is no damp in the cabin, it suggests that air is not flowing through the car properly. It's not on recirc is it?

Just bought a 996 Turbo which was suffering from condensation. The carpet at the base of the drivers door was soaking wet. The door membrane was replaced and the problem has cleared up.

This occurred on my Cayman also, but the OP says he has checked already. Still persisted though, I'm positive it can be more than just a shot door membrane or blocked drainage ducts and my money is on localized climate of where you live.

Nevertheless, take special care to check the base of the door panel carpet OP.
