Depressing......what the f
k has happened to this place!?The old Kiosk in the train station is class! Get that back!!
Can't wait for the Counil Building to be demolished!
Oh, look; NORMAL people in the gardens! Let's not concrete it over and turn it into a usable space!
Upperkirkgate was SO much nicer without that concrete monstrosity!!
The Wallace Tower....what the hell? Why remove that???
At least Provost Skene's House will be able to breathe again after the Council House is removed.
It's such a shame that the history and heart and soul of the centre of Aberdeen has been removed to accommodate 1960's/70's precast concrete coffins...

I have quite a few books on the way Aberdeen used to be not to mention quite a few prints from the 1900's that I bought from the University. There is a lot of history in the city and hardly anyone notices and even cares for that matter. The beach used to be a beautiful area and actually had a proper boardwalk at one point in its life.
I stood and had a long conversation with a guy at Earlier World Interest in Torry about Aberdeen and it was reassuring to talk to someone who is trying to preserve many old items from peoples homes ( I had actually gone there looking for a front door for my house ), what he had in his various workshops was breathtaking and just oozed history it was fantastic.
My partner must get tired of me complaining about how Aberdeen has changed I'm forever going on about it haha but like anything else once you see how something used to be and how much pride everyone took in the city you can't help but wish things were the way they used to be. Folk cared.

The thing I like most is that there isn't a beggar in sight!
+1 from me, We were down from Orkney over Christmas for my Wife to have some treatment in ARI and we did a lot of walking to and from there and the City centre. We often walked along Westburn Road and down Watson Street/Esselmont to Union Street and were appalled at the number of beggars. The other thing was the collossal number of sat dishes littering that wonderful facade along Esselmont - what an eyesore! Next thing we noticed was that we were tramping along on slimy leaves almost everywhere along the very uneven pavements. We came to a snarled up junction which was partly flooded, only to find the Gulley Sucker machine trying to clear - the blockage of leaves!! Have these council supremos ever stopped to think about spending to save? How can Aberdeen be unable look after itself? It's such a shame it has changed so much since the 50's I'm glad I'm old sometimes - I don't think I can cope much longer with this downward spiral.
