Just back from the Porsche Driving Experience Range Experience Day

It was a bit snowy!! Ice Hill and Skid Plate were covered in ice. It was foggy all day, -4deg C and snowing at one point!!! Not allowed to drive flat out around the handling circuit! One of the Cayennes was really struggling on the off-road and got stuck at one point. Someone in front of me totally cooked the clutch in a manual Boxster - clouds of grey/black smoke pouring out from underneath!!!

Drove ten cars - favourites would be the Boxster S, Carrera 4 and the new Cayenne Diesel for the 850nm of torque!! C4 was incredible on the skid circles - very impressive.

Ham Terrine, Shepherd's Pie (excellent), Ginger Sponge with Rhubarb

Snowy warm up!

The hips don't lie!

Sounds great, is that part of buying a new car or did you pay for it?

It is. They have had to create special new larger parking bays to enable them to be parked.

As a customer you get invited - it is not tied to buying a new car specifically as for that you get a half day experience in the model that you purchased. I do not know what the criteria are for being invited - I am sure someone will.

Is the back end actually wider than the door mirrors?! Or is that just the perspective.

I think it is close, but as it is SO big we would need someone with a theodolite to check it out!

How on earth did they manage to do that I wonder, unable to drive a manual properly? Has sir considered a PDK at all? tongue out

And why did the instructor let them more to the point?

I'm going to try and squeeze that word into an inane conversation I'll no doubt be having sometime today.

The instructors were not in the car. He totally cooked up the clutch though!

Ah I see - I didn't realise that you were allowed out on your own. My brief experience down there saw the instructor in with me at all times.

They were alongside us in Cayennes using radios to talk to us. I think they are very carefully coached on not making punters feel like idiots and to suggest that maybe some customers are 'not used to manual cars'!!

The punter got stuck going up onto the Michelin bridge - stalled it and then could not do the hill start - maybe some confusion with the electronic handbrake!
