After an evening search for a V8V (I'm extremely tempted to pick one up later this year) I noticed that the AMV8 has a well-known noise mod where you just pull fuse 22 to keep the active exhausts open. While seeing the difference on YouTube, one of the linked videos was of a 911 with the PSE doing something similar by removing an orange connector or something (I didn't pay too much attention).

Any of you guys know of a PSE always on-type effect from removing a fuse? I never drive my 911 out of sports mode as I love the sound of the PSE. I don't need anything aftermarket as with the noise button on it sounds fantastic smile

You can take off the connecter to the vac on 997's onwards, so yes.

On my 996 the PSE is always on loud unless I deliberately press the switch to disable it (which I virtually never do).

Cool, orange fuse out then. Anything I should be concerned about or is just a case of "shut up sebhaque and get on with it"?

Shut up Sebhaque and get on with it!!!!

Just make sure you tie the loose pipe to something so it doesn't dangle around in the engine bay and use some gaffer tape to cover the exposed connectors, so they don't rust - enjoy!

I would add that it's good practice to reconnect it every 3 months or so and give the valves a bit of exercise, else they can seize and then will need replacing.

Well it's been done smile school run/rush hour is setting in so I'm not going to bother taking it out but from the gentle driveway revs it sounds fab (I was amazed at how loud it was when I tickled the throttle before realising that it's as loud as it normally is when I put it in sport!) Good excuse to go for a drive this evening/tomorrow.

Does this work on a Gen2 GT3?

Diode snip is another option. Always loud and retains use of the button so you can 'exercise' the actuators and prevent siezure. Seizure can happen quite quickly as well, only 5 months in my case, easily remedied with a squirt of WD40

I re-connect mine every 3 months or when it visits Porsche!

When it had to be recovered to Porsche for warranty work they commented on how awesome the exhaust was sounding. biggrin

Yes. Disconnect the electrical connector form the vacuum solenoid thingy. Tape up the exposed connector terminals to keep the wet out. The actuators do seize up if not used for a while but if you get under there and work them by hand very now and then it helps.

No diode in the 987 / 997 to snip!

Certainly can - you need to find this connector and pull it apart.

Yep.

Unless you buy the little remote control thingy from Carnewal.

I know I mentioned it recently, but quickly.

I've fitted the carnewal remote. So I can operate the flaps with a remote, which saves having to take the gubbins out to work the flaps. It stays on whichever mode you last left it and the low speed cut out is stopped.

Nice solution and works well.
