I was wondering, when exactly is the date that makes the difference between the pre-2004 and 2004+ T350s? And was this date the same for T350cs as T350ts? TVR wise it will probably not have been Jan 1st. I was wondering because my T350t is pre-2004 (Oct 9th 2003) but has sun visors, a boot finger recess, a pop-fixed filler cap and a luggage cover which afaik are considered 2004+ changes.

And were the engine reliability improvements added to new cars at the same date as the sun visors etc or not? Because if that is considered the case then perhaps my engine might be considered 2004+ too? If so, that could explain why it has had no rebuild so far and is doing great without signs of wear.

Is anyone aware of an earlier T350t than mine?

Hi.
As far as I know a lot of these little changes started showing up on later 2003 T350 cars.... Mine is an early 2004 model and it has the exact same things done as yours. I do still have the old way of closing the targa panels (on the side, not the front) and I believe you have those as well. My first T350t was from 06/2004 and that one had the newer targa panels. So I think that from halfway 2003 the T350 got some updates but you need at least a mid 2004 model to have all the upgrades.

Upgrades were continual so I don't think there is a cut-out date.

I was lead to believe by someone well placed that they started using kent cams/followers from 2005 if that helps

Mine was registered Nov 2003 and has all the changes you mention, and an engine that has done 50k miles without any issues (so far).

My T350t is Sep 2003 has the sun visors, a boot finger recess and a luggage cover. The side and rear fixed panels (which are noisey and rubbish) and the fuel filler surround is glued on.

My T350C was registered in June 2004 and has all the visible upgrades that have been previously mentioned, I am led to believe that in early 2004 TVR installed better cams and followers in the 3.6. Typical TVR it depends what was available at the time and the only way to find out is to take the top off and have a look. Obviously the 3.6 is a much better engine than the 4.0 which explains why we get better reliability and a much reduced requirement for a rebuild.

Keep the T350s roaring!

I am not sure how you came to that conclusion as I expected the 3.6 which needs to rev higher to be more prone to problems.
Doesn't individual driving style have more impact on engine life than the the extra 4.0 liter?

Biggest change was supplier of engine castings in late 2003. Better quality and minor changes to the casting patterns.

The need to change suppliers and the impact it had was a significant contributor to the end of TVR.

Are referring to the issues and negative feedback associated with the Speed 6 in general or something more specific to the block John?

Hi David,
Mote the fact that 60+ finished cars could go no where as they had no engines. Killed cash flow...

Mine is also Sept 2003 with all the upgrades including bolted fuel filler surround but targa panels rear and side. However, I don't get any wind noise from my panels, they are really tight fitting.

It just goes to show that it was a continual upgrade process.

Is there an easy way to determine which engine castings have been fit?

Later engine casting has:-

Two cap screws on front cover

Short stub above oil filter with vertical tapping for cooler hose
