How much of a saving can you expect when dealers claim to be selling at cost price? Are these billy bargins or just a clever marketing ploy,

The wife got this offer before Christmas and although she wasn't looking to change at the moment we decided to see what kind of a deal was on offer. We made it clear that we would only buy if we could do the 0% 50/50 finance deal and the cost to change was so impressive we would have been stupid to turn it down.

While they did try to get there it was very much a case of if you have this you can't have that so we felt they were not as desperate as the offer suggested and that was enough for us to walk away.

But it could be worth a punt, I bought a new Merc in June while picking up my old car from a service purely on the basis that I got talking to the sales manager and found out they were 2 cars away from getting their quarterly bonus and they put a crazy deal together, significantly better than anything advertised on the website.

There are deals out there just got to go find them.

Good luck

We are really in a similar position, we were not planning to change just yet. Also as we have had our mini 4 years, were thinking of a change to something different.

On that basis I think you've got nothing to lose. Just go in with the attitude that you're not going to buy unless the deal is so good you'd be mad not to take it.

Just be aware that the new Mini comes out late this year/ early next year so might be worth waiting. That's what SWMBO decided to do in the end.

Hope this helped.

We cried off due to the weather in the end, its not been the best to go out tyre kicking. Going to leave it for the time being, as I say we were actually looking for a change away from Mini, but nothing at the moment is jumping out at the moment.

I got 20% off (i.e the VAT) an 8 week old/400 mile Countryman in November as they were looking to move it on.

Wasn't even looking to buy a car when I visited the showroom.
