Hello.
I have a 56 reg Boxster to look at tomorrow.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

It states the car is the M97/245BHP variant. freecarcheck.org suggests this too.

An old Porsche brochure says the car emissions are 222g/km, Band K = £270
However DVLA website believe the car emissions are 229g/km, Band L = £470

So what happens when I buy tax? Does the DVLA's opinion override Porsches?!?

Just go to www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk and enter the reg and choose the manufacturer and you'll get the definitive answer for any car.

However, I'd advise against making a purchasing decision based purely on the tax cost - the difference between cheap and dear on that car is less than the cost of a tyre!

Indeed, I need to be happy with the car too!

But the point of finding the M97 variant is partly to save tax (And the allegedly stronger IMS bearing).
If the Boxster V5 states 222g/km, can I argue the point with DVLA?

Can any 56/07 reg 987 owners here tell me their road tax?

I'm thinking of changing my 986 to a 987 and found the same problem as you. I do think it is the lower figure but like you would like to know for certain.

You didn't try that link did you? banghead

I just did it for you for the car advertised in the link you gave - it is indeed 222g/km and hence only £260/year.

Why do I bother? rolleyes

I'm fine thanks smile Just got back from a dog walk, had an espresso and about to start work. smile

Sorry, I just found it rather frustrating that I provided a link with everything needed and the OP couldn't be bothered to make use of it and instead wanted to try and argue a point on something he could have checked first and didn't - unfathomable!

Have a nice day! smile

I thought that link was the one I had already tried,
Googling DVLA pointed me to https://www.gov.uk/calculate-vehicle-tax-rates
that thinks the car is 229g/km.

I apologise for existing
