Been without a car for while now (6 months) as I live in London and the completely rubbish KA I had got bitten by the typical rustbug so it was 'off to the farm' with her.

I'm looking around for something, I'm not exactly sure what. Budget is small (max £1500) and I'd love a small, cheap shed for tax free (or cheap) motoring. Gotta keep it small coz the insurance is still enormous (even with 7yrs NCB and 27yrs old!)
any ideas?

I thought about a highmiler 206 HDI maybe? good MPG but relaibility issues?

That doesn't sound right to me if you shop around. Confused.com seem to be offereing some cheap premiums right now. Or do you have some "unfortunate" convictions?

Central London could be part of the insurance issue

thats a pretty beautiful old dear of a volvo. I'm not sure how long she'd last on the mean streets of Hackney.

Though driving a car that's 18years older than me will certainly help to take my relationship with my spanner onto the next level.

I had a 1967 Volvo when I lived in Leytonstone, it was a daily driver. You'd be amazed how reliable even Volvos of that age can be. smile

Perfect for all the offroading I do.

(which amounts to attempting to transverse a gravel car park at a garden centre once a year)

You'll fit right in with the rest of the London people with off-roaders wink
