Clutch problems with GT coupe
Discussion
Hi all just some advice please I have a coupe GT which is the JTdiesel its 2006 . We have a clutch problem. When I press the pedal down i only get about 3 to 4 inches of clutch while at the bottom and clearly can't engage most of the gears it's being taken to a Halfords auto centre which wasn't my choice by the AA they're going to look at it later, i just want heads up before they start trying to rip me off ! any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Your clutch master cylinder has failed. It's an utter pig of a job; I just did one last week. Thanks

Check the slave cylinder first as it's not a pig of a job and often fails first.
Then GTF away from Halfords to a proper Alfa Independent specialist? Is Bournemouth far from you? Autolusso get a good rep
You do realise that the slave cylinder is annular and requires the whole transmission to be removed? Then GTF away from Halfords to a proper Alfa Independent specialist? Is Bournemouth far from you? Autolusso get a good rep

Do the master first!

Not on the diesel. It sits on top of the gearbox bell housing under the battery tray. Well on mine it did.........
This man is right ..... andReplace both as when I changed one the other went two weeks later as thats alfas for you £38 a part so not going to break the bank|!
Yes it is often said that when the slave goes the master follows shortly after . . . .but not always. My master cylinder was still OK long after the slave was changed, but I changed it when the clutch was being done 6 months or so later. Figured it was apart anyway so in for a penny . . . . .
Depending on where in Hants you are, you might want to make acquaintance with these guys for your future Alfa mechanical woes: http://www.autolusso-bournemouth.co.uk/
