Tomorrow night I'm going out for my friends birthday and the plan is a 5pm meet for drinks and pool at the elbow room. Obviously this means getting food out, and as they serve food it has been suggested we just eat there. I just want a heads up as to what I should expect; if awful is the verdict I'll nip to nandos or something. I'm happy with a burger, but want something decent. I.e. much better than weatherspoons, but doesn't need to be the worlds best burger...#

Any experiences?

I've been a few times but not for a while (say 2 years).

I've had burgers and chips there a few times, bit greasy but fine.

Would you really not eat there if it's Weatherspoons standard though at a party? Neither are going to be fine dining, one is a cheap pub, the other is a pool hall.

I just hope for you it's not on par with the Northern as they dish up some of the worst food I've ever experienced.

If I had the option, no I would never eat at a weatherspoon again. The main point being, we're not staying all night at albow room so there should be a chance to grab a nando's if possible.

I have had some awful food in the few times I have eaten at wetherspoons. I haven't eaten a McD's or Burger King etc for about ten years but I think I'd rather thave a bacon cheese burger from BK than eat wetherspoons food again.

And I'm not needing fine dining just food that tastes good and is cooked properly - not something I've ever experieced at WS!

Spoons used to be okay but it's a long time ago now. Used to regularly get an evening meal there when I was trucking around the country, but then they suddenly changed food supplier from Brakes to 3663 (or the other way round) and since then the food has been garbage. Last time I was there I had the mixed grill and there was that much fat and gristle in it you wouldn't have believed it. Also the offers stuff is never in stock either.

I'd go with a bacon double cheese from BK as well. yes

I had a Streak Sarni there about 5 years back, I think it was ok!

If you're super fussy I'd probably nip to Nandos, you can't really go wrong with that and its just round the corner.

If you decide to nip round keep close guard of your arse. Dodgy down that end of town.

Food at Elbow Rooms is normally quite good, decent burgers and other confort food well cooked with wide range of sauces etc.

I find the nachos there to be heavily salted which ruins the plate. Stick to the burgers and you can't go wrong.

(me and a uni pal use to go there EVERY monday last year for the free pool. My game greatly improved.)

I bet it got busy? The burger was good, although the chips were heavily salted!

Are you still at uni? Which one?

Surprisingly between 11 and 3 it was mostly just me and my mate. We'd often buy a drink each so we didn't seem like piss-takers...much.

I use to go to Leeds Music, graduated last year: Good riddance to that place.

I haven't been to the Elbow Room for a good few years now, but they used to do a free meal for every hour of pool that you played, ie play two hours of pool and get two free meals. The meals were basic in choice but fairly decent in size, and not too bad in taste either. So food for two, a couple of pints each and 2 hours of pool would work out at a little over £20...bargain!

Did you happen to notice if they still offered this?

They didn't have anything like that last year when I went there.
