So the Mrs' Y reg Hyundai Coupe airbag light has started to stay on.
Does it mean we have to have a new airbag? It's not been used in the few years we've had the car.
Thing is the car isn't really worth anything, so I'd be reluctant to spend much on it.
Are airbags expensive?

Airbags are. Chances are that it's a fault somewhere else though. On my car, the wiring that goes to the seats to tell the airbag if there's someone sitting in it often goes wrong, and that causes an airbag light.

Not necessarily a scrap job, then. Thanks.

It could be one of the sensors in the front bumper. Get it swapped by a professional though, if you cock it up, your airbags go off!

Nope, but I think it's now an MOT fail, unless the rules changed again.

Nope not an mot fail only abs light is a fail but you can get around that. It's normal just a sensor on the bottom of the seat gets corroded, broken etc. But it need a code reader to rear the error codes to see where the fault is and go from there.
