Hi guys,

I've got next weekend off and I'm looking to go for a hoon on the Saturday (26th Jan).

I had a fair bit of interest for lasttime but unfortunately people had to cancel for various reasons.

I haven't got a planned area/route/time yet - I'm just simply looking to see if anyone wants to join me.

Please jot any names and suggestions down here and we will sort something!

Jon

I'm supposed to be marshalling on a rally in Wales on Sat, if it runs, so I'll have to wait and see.

Most of our Yorkshire runs start about 06:30 for a couple of hours, ending with breakfast somewhere. Then people can be home by 09:30 ish and, more importantly, we have missed all the traffic smile

You would be surprised how much the traffic builds from 8am onwards. Obviously, at this time of year you will be either starting in the dark for the first half hour or setting off maybe half an hour later.

Either way, we are not short of superb driving roads and good routes.

Can't do that Sat..

Tbh I'd rather wait till it warms up and is light when we start. 6am is perfect time to meet.

Last one I went on wasn't short of pace which I wouldn't fancy when its cold, wet and dark.

Totally weather dependent for me these days as my hoon car doesn't have ABS or anything in the way of help. Still well up for it but if it is icy or properly wet there is a good chance I wouldn't be coming home. Ever.

I have done quite a few Dawn Runs over the last ten years or so. Ben and Chris (Balders) also have been known to put a route together, although Ben's usually involve broken side steps or air suspension and Chris' end up in bleeding Cumbria biggrin

I've got a route up on here somewhere, search for a thread in this sub forum called something like "Benjj's Yorkshire Nordschleife". It starts/finishes in Skipton, about 90 miles, takes in all the Dales classics.

I've still got the route map of that cracker we did about 4 or 5 years ago up from Scotch Corner, and finished with a photo-call in front of the Bowes museum. I've done it a fair few times since too with others.

Its a fair drive to the start point for some but definitely worth it. Maybe not in the snow, though!

I can share the map if anyone wants a look, or I might google-map it. Even if you keep it for a solo run when you get a lucky morning off.

Where are you based Jon?

ETA Wetherby, straight onto the A1 then, perfect...!

Although I'd suggest not a good idea at the moment to go up that for north, some of it is quite high altitude too, definitely good chance of ice and snow. Be good to run a big group up there in Spring!

Let me know when you plan to do this please.

As has been said, the weather is maybe a bit too cold at the moment.
