The steering wheel on the Cerb is worn and I want it re-covered. Now I hear that TVR can do it, but it takes ages (ain't that always the way.... are you listening new Russian TVR blokey ?)....

So , does anyone know anywhere else that can do the job ? Obvioulsy it all has to be taken off and put back on, which I expect is a nightmare of a job ...

Cheers

Do a search on Steering Wheel Referb in the Cerbera forum. Suffolkfox referbed his own and has posted pictures etc. Sorry, I didn't know how to link straight to it.

I used Andy at AJ Trimming last year to recover mine, he did a great job!

actual taking the steering wheel off is a job you can do with a bent paperclip and a socket set. Should take you all of about half an hour. Once off, any local refubisher would see you proud.

Get yourself some Gliptone colourwash, this stuff is the boll**ks.
I had my Portland grey wheel refurbd' at a main dealer last year & it was looking tatty again within a couple of months.
I sent Gliptone a leather sample (as they custom match), & got the kit back within 3 days.
Follow the instructions, & mine looks like a new wheel.
Well chuffed.

If you want to see a pic, have a look at the mendip blue 4.2 cerb in the classifieds, there is an interior shot.

Darren.

Darren - got any further info on the Gliptone gubbins? What is it they send you, exactly? And do you know if they have kept "Portland Grey" on file... top of mine's starting to get a bit scuffed & could probably do with tidying up. Cheers!

As a guide for you, my local indie charged £34 to remove & refit the wheel, the leather cost £53 from TVR (took ages) & the trimmer charged £95 to fit it. Total £182

The wheel was removed on the morning, delivered to the trimmer & re fitted by the afternoon.

In hindsight, I could of got the leather off the trimmer, as he had it in stock & it would of been cheaper.

I didn't trust his colour matching skills though, he must of brought eight different shades of magnolia out, asking me which one I thought was best

Did a good job though

Do a google for gliptone leathercare, should find easy.
you get loads of little bottles (colour, lightner, stuff to make it darker etc), great instructions.
The £13 kit is more than enough to do a wheel & have plenty left over for seat scuffs etc.
