Junior FD came back from school on Monday with teacher reporting that the boy was unwell and not himself. We have kept him off schtheool since. It seems to be an agressive virus causing high temperature and some parents have had kids fitting with high temp and blue lighted to hospital. The little one has consistently reported that he has 'felt like st' all week (choice words from a 6 year old!) but appropriate for the circumstances. Anyway, I have now got it!

I have felt all energy drain from my body. I have aches behind my eyes, swing between shivering and sweating, aching thumb joints (I kid ye not), aching thighs. I have been coughing up huooge dockyard oysters which started off white yesterday and are now luminous green today. Trying to sleep has been awful.

I have been knocking back lemsips at a rate of knots, but still feel absolutely terrible. My wife is withholding symapthy on the basis that this is simply man flu.

Anyone else go this? Any remedies you can recommend?

Proper flu is seriously incapacitating. I went to bed last Monday (nearly 2 weeks ago) and didn't get up again until Wednesday evening. My legs were agony - couldn't walk further than the bathroom. I was freezing cold until the weekend. No "cold" symptoms until this week but even that is only a persistent cough which makes my lungs hurt - I can't stand to be outside for long in this cold.

Remedies:

For the headache that gets worse when I can't stop coughing - ibuprofen (strong ones I bought in Spain last year).

Covonia for the cough but that's not very effective. Would imagine something like an inhaler could be more effective but I don't have one.

Good luck.

plenty of water, bed rest, sleep. paracetamol every 4 hours. And patience. Its a bugger this winter... Whatever you do, don't "struggle on". That just keeps it going longer. Rest, let it do its thang, get bored and ps off.
