Hi all, just a quick question, went down a huge pothole yesterday and took a 2" x 1" chuck out of my alloy, right on the rim of my tyre.... anyway of fixing this?

Yes, there are plenty of wheel refurbish companies around who can fill the chip, smooth and paint. Probably cost about £50 per wheel.

Await pictures, but if there is a chunk of wheel missing it sounds like you'll need a new wheel.

Scrap. Bent or broken alloy wheels should NEVER be repaired. Yes, I know of posts here of those who've had it done, and companies who do it, claiming it's ok. LM25 Aluminium Alloy ISN'T amenable to being bent back from where it originally came, it’s elongation is poor, and it’s liable to micro cracking, the beginning of fatigue failure. Welded wheels have had the heat treatment in the welded zone ruined, and again, fatigue failure is likely. I believe Australia has already banned such processes.

Oh, that's for 4 is it? Your post suggested buying 'a' new wheel might be £2000. Oh well. smile
