What goes wrong with a Terrano??

Had a 1994 Nissan Terrano for 9 yrs. The rear nearside brakelight bulb blew about 7 yrs into ownership. Damn japanese rubbish workmanship. Nissan seem to thing that because the design makes them as easy to change as a bulb in your house, that's acceptable!!!!

Well, never again. I can't be having a brake light fail on me every decade, I need a car I can trust.

Somebody in the know will step forward I'm sure but for what it's worth my brother has a 90000 mile 54 plate 3
Litre and its absolutely bob on. Nice and torquey and a real workhorse.

The three litre has a known oil pressure sender issue which causes sporadic oil light illumination on the dash but apart from that I believe they are pretty bulletproof.

But like I say sure a terrano expert will pipe up with more for you....

Well... Bought mine nearly 5 tears ago. Its a 2000 X 2.7td LWB BOUGHT FOR £3K. One owner and history that would take to long to read.

Its been faultless, pulls a caravan, plays in mud when i get time and never fails me. Everything works and since Ive owned it never failed an MOT. All its had is a battery and air flow meter (£50 part from Nissan)

On the road its acceptable, avoid pot holes at speed though. The engine is a little agriculture in sound and performance but its taken some real hammering and refuses to give up. It returns a real average of about 27mpg with a manual box (avoid autos) Its not going to win prizes off the lights or corner like an 18 year old in a lowered saxo but, as said it acceptable as a trouble free all rounder. 7 seats are handy and when not in use you still have reasonable boot space. Its simple mechanics and easy to service yourself, filters are easy to get to and cheap to buy. Services are 9k miles or 6 months. Shafts underneath are all easy to get to and a few minutes with a grease gun now and then keep things looked after.

So I had a brake light bulb go, you've had a battery and an air flow metre. Christ, is there no end to the Teranno's list of faults.

Shocking! The 2 item list of problems is not on at all! It winds my brother up as he bought a nearly new Disco thats had a string of major failures in the same ownership time. In fact its sat on his drive now growing mould on the seat belts and dash as he wont pump more cash into it! The old Terrano however has been great in the recent snowfall we have here.

BTW When the air flow meter died it still didnt let me down, just had a reasonable loss of power- Still got home though!!

I had a colleague at work who also had a brand new Disco that was never out of the garage. Whilst my crappy old Terrano just soldiered on and on. It used to infuriate her! hehe

Mind you, when her Landrover was working (that would have been a Tuesday in July 2003) it looked fantastic.

Are these made in Spain and does the 2.7,not sure about the 3.0, use gears instead of a cambelt or chain?

Don't know if it made in Spain or Jap to be honest. And there is no belt to worry about.

Yes they are apparently made in Spain but that's not an issue...
