The ratchet mechanism in my Griff 500 driver's seat has given up the ghost - I think the teeth are rounded off. Anyone know if it's possible to buy a replacement mechanism anywhere or am I going to have to buy a new seat?

It doesn't look like it would be easy to replace parts of the adjuster as the whole mechanism appears to be riveted together. One of the allen bolts which holds the mechanism to the seat back is well up underneath the upholstery - looks like either the upholstery has to be removed (is that possible??) or a hole made in it (perish the thought) to get an allen key on the bolt head.

Advice from anyone who's ever done a similar repair would be much appreciated.

My drivers seat recline mechanism was shot when I got the car and it had been welded in place. I was told this is because it isn't possible to repair it.
I swapped the seats for cerbera seats rather than attempting to fix it.
I still have the original seats in the loft if you want any pictures for your investigations, rather than having to pull your seat out.

Can't help with the repair, but I swopped my seats over left to right to even out the seat wear. This would at least give you an adjustable driver's seat.

Ian, that's a very kind offer - thank you - but I've already taken the seat out to see what was what. The mechanism seems cr*p - the teeth are very small (bound to wear) and the whole thing appears impossible to take apart to repair - it appears to be fixed together with forged rivets.

Alex thanks for your suggestion - if I can't find a fix that may get me by at least for a while.

I think in the meantime I'll ask around the TVR parts specialists just in case....
